If the developers do decide to honor this hero who can wipe out an entire enemy team in one blast, there is an artist on Reddit that has made a compelling case for D.Va. Beyond that, Reddit user b3p_si (accredited as Leyre Elola on the image itself) has made a pitch that they should get hired onto the team in order to make this skin a reality.

The fanart is personalized and stylish with an alarming level of detail. Beyond just the character herself, she’s given a portrait, sidearm, spray paint, trinkets, catchphrase, and even the bottom of her shoe is customized. This kind of attention to detail is something that the developers should be paying attention to.

This is not to say that Blizzard is at all negligent with its heroes currently. Although many are unimpressed with Junker Queen’s legendary skin, she does have a detail with her kneepad that indicates a great deal of thoughtfulness went into her design. As usual, there are always hits and misses when it comes to skins for these heroes.

What this does do is create some inspiration and perhaps give the team a chance to see what fans are excited about. It’s hard to know what skins are going to be well-received before debuting them. Artists like this create concepts that, while it would be wrong to copy, can at least inspire other artists to think outside of the box while also honoring the character, D.Va, herself. It might be tough to get those shades of pink and the chrome/rainbow hues, but this difficulty would certainly pay off in the form of fan appreciation. Orisa’s javelin isn’t noticeably different between her skins and fans are hungry for more effort in the area.

For now, they’ve got their hands fun just getting the game in a playable state. After a rocky launch, fans are happy with the game as is but already antsy about where the promised PvE content is. There is also a level of polish needed as boats are sailing backward and even menu screen images aren’t centered yet. Big changes like a D.Va mythic skin might indeed come to pass, but it’s on the back burner until the game itself is stable and caught up.
