RELATED: Overwatch 2: Most Powerful Characters In The Lore

With Overwatch 2’s competitive meta constantly shifting and evolving with every new patch by Blizzard, it can take time to pinpoint which characters are currently weak and most powerful. This list details which heroes are overpowered in Overwatch 2.

8 Moira

As a support hero capable of dealing damage while providing ample heals for her team, Moira is currently one of the most overpowered characters in Overwatch 2. With Moira’s dual potential to either harm or heal, dependent on what is required, her Biotic Orbs can erratically bounce, dealing fatal damage to a distant low-health enemy.

Moira’s kit’s strongest and most rage-inducing aspect is her soft-locking Biotic Grasp. It has a decently far range, grabbing onto distant enemies and steadily whittling down their HP. Since it’s a beam weapon, it can prove a nuisance for enemies like Genji, who cannot deflect it. Her damage capabilities have resulted in the insurgence of DPS Moiras, who solely focus on dealing damage instead of aiding their allies.

7 D.Va

D.Va has emerged as one of the strongest heroes in Overwatch 2. Her hefty health boost allows her to fit the role of the sole Tank quite well, providing ample protection for her team through damage mitigation. With her increased mobility with her Boosters, she can easily traverse terrain and chase down enemies.

Where D.Va shines is with her Defense Matrix. She can absorb hard-earned Ultimates from champions like Zarya, Hanzo, Cassidy, and Mei, paired with a cheeky voice line from the Korean pop icon to rub salt into the enemy’s wounds.

6 Reaper

Reaper has come under fire recently on social media as being an unskilled character and frustrating for players to play against due to his sheer amount of damage. His Hellfire Shotguns destroy any opponents unfortunate enough to be in close-quarters combat with him.

Wherever Reaper uses his Shadow Step ability, death will follow swiftly. He can use this ability to teleport to high and unseen ledges above enemies. He can rain hell down upon them using his Ultimate Death Blossom as a surefire way to get a Penta kill.

5 Junkrat

Affectionately nicknamed ‘Spamrat’ by some longtime Overwatch players, it’s clear to see how Junkrat earned this accolade. His Frag Launcher can quickly decimate opponents both near and far, dealing anything from 10 splash damage to a whopping 120 damage upon direct impact.

His Steel Trap and Concussion Mine is a devastating combo for any unfortunate player to wander into and is practically a guaranteed kill. His ultimate, Riptire, is what players complain about the most. Often used to clutch a win during Overtime, Junkrat’s Riptide can deal a whopping 600 damage, potentially wiping out a contesting team in one fell swoop. Many players complain Junkrat is overpowered, considering his lack of mechanical skill, but he is perfect for beginner players to try out.

4 Sojourn

Sojourn was one of the three new heroes introduced in Season One at Overwatch 2’s release. Though a great hero for beginner players to master, Sojourn is another one of the most overpowered heroes currently on the roster. Her cybernetic augmentations, like her rocket legs, allow her to Power Slide to high terrain for a vantage point to snipe enemies.

Imagine quick-firing, fully charged Widowmaker shots. That is precisely what Sojourn’s Ultimate, Overclock, allows her to do. These shots on her Railgun can practically one-shot annihilate any hero who is not a tank, proving that Sojourn is a deadly foe to face on the battlefield.

3 Roadhog

As Overwatch 2 has significantly changed and switched to a 5v5 team composition, Roadhog has felt like the odd Tank out. However, as a damage-dealing, he is still intensely strong and overpowered with his Scrap Gun. With several buffs, Roadhog can self-heal while using his Ultimate, Whole Hog, making him a strong pick.

Where Roadhog shines is with his Chain Hook. It can be used to pull in unsuspecting enemies; perfect for picking supports out of the backline as a guaranteed kill with his Scrap Gun and Quick Attack combo. Some players feel Chain Hook is unfair, with a considerable hitbox and far-extending range.

2 Genji

With the lack of shields and protective barriers in Overwatch 2, Genji has seen a resurgence in popularity as this cyber-ninja becomes more viable in team compositions. His shurikens and high mobility allow him to dispatch squishy heroes with ease.

Coupled with Ana’s Nano Boost and armed with Dragonblade, Genji becomes unstoppable and a nightmare for the enemy team unless they have a defensive Ultimate or some method of crowd control. He can easily Swift Strike into the enemy backline, and the new DPS passive allows him to benefit from extra movement speed upon each kill.

1 Bastion

Even after being removed from Overwatch 2 for several weeks and several nerfs, Bastion is still the most overpowered hero in the game. His new and improved Ultimate can prove deadly when paired with Zarya or Reinhardt’s Ultimates to group up the opposing team.

In his Configuration: Assault mode, Bastion can easily mow down shields and enemies while on the move. With unlimited ammo, he can deal 360 damage while firing, making him a formidable opponent for any team composition, requiring proper coordination and communication to defeat him.

Overwatch 2 is available to play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
