In 2018 Overwatch partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to raise money. Between May 8 and May 21, 2018, players could directly buy Mercy’s pink skin, with proceeds going directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. After the time of this partnership ending, the skin wouldn’t be obtainable by anyone who didn’t purchase it.

Given only players who paid extra money in a very limited time period were able to obtain this skin, there are many who want it to return. One Overwatch fan has put the skin into The Sims 4, where players can download it as custom content.

The modding communities for The Sims are known for being impressive at creating loads of new content for the games. Kaguya-Fox on Tumblr is one of these contributors, and they have also created The Bounded Widow from Bloodborne, Kai’sa from League of Legends, and Maria from Nioh for The Sims 4 using meshes from the original games.
As can be seen with the Pink Mercy skin, the style of the custom content is far more detailed than what is usually found in the vanilla content for The Sims 4. Parts of the outfit can also be worn individually if players so choose. Some of the most impressive details are in how Mercy’s wings still go through cycles of light despite now being part of a completely different game.
All of Kaguya-Fox’s custom content is available through their Tumblr account, where those who want to use their content can download files through Sim File Share. This creator has also made content that allows players to have Widowmaker’s Black Lily skin and D.Va’s Black Cat skin. Like with Mercy, these can be put all together in an outfit for a Sim, or placed individually.
It’s unknown if Pink Mercy will be returning again in Overwatch or in the future for Overwatch 2. With accounts owning the skin being sold for high prices online, its return may help the current account selling problem. Until then, fans will have to make their own content with the skin.
Overwatch is now available for the PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
