While the former issue involving the timed-exclusive Olympic cosmetics are going to remain the same with no alternative for it at the moment, some fans recently discovered a glitch in Overwatch that rectifies the latter complaint about Lucioball. As it happens, the exploit allows other heroes in the game to take the place of Lucio in the mode.
As seen in the Overwatch videos below, the Lucioball glitch occasionally occurs for no rhyme or reason and transforms Lucio into other characters like Bastion, D.Va, Torbjörn, Widowmaker, and Winston seemingly at random. However, there’s apparently a way for players to actually utilize the trick at will on PC by pressing the “H” key just before the game starts to prompt the character select screen. That said, this method still picks a different hero for fans to play as on their behalf, and doesn’t necessarily let gamers choose their character directly in the Rocket League-esque mode.

Although the Overwatch glitch for Lucioball is definitely an interesting find, as it completely changes the dynamics of the mode, this is not the first time that Blizzard’s shooter has contained a bug that alters the game. Just recently, in fact, the YouTuber known as hulkman503 revealed an exploit within the Nepal map which let him and a friend navigate between all three levels of the map without dying.
Such discoveries are certainly fun and add a bit more silliness to Overwatch, but considering the fact that Blizzard has been pretty quick and percipient with patches like its most recent update, it’s a safe bet to make that the studio will rectify the Lucioball glitch soon enough. Of course, that isn’t to say that there won’t be further unintentional exploits for fans to revel in with future updates.
