Orisa is a tank hero in Overwatch who became somewhat notorious during the game’s infamous GOATS meta, where competitive teams would use a team composition of three tanks and three healers to steamroll opponents with their incredible survivability. Orisa’s high health pool and easily sustainable shield made the hero a central part of the strategy and has created a mixed opinion on the Overwatch character at times, although clearly she still has passionate fans in the community....

Fans discovered a forum post dating back to March 2019 by Geoff Goodman, one of Overwatch’s developers. In the post, Goodman details some abilities that the team had played around with but never actually got implemented into the game, for a variety of reasons. These prototypes are still sitting around for the right hero, which may just mean Echo. After all, one ability is a near-perfect match for what fans have seen of the character....

The free trial of sorts begins today, November 18. The event officially kicks off at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, and will end on Monday, November 21 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. In a tweet, Overwatch officials have said that only the events planned for March and April have been suspended to protect the health and safety of its players. The Coronavirus has broken out in several countries, and many events including the NBA and NCAA have since been canceled. Activision-Blizzard Entertainment is still working on ways to get Overwatch teams to be able to participate in events, as there were already cancelations at their recent events in China....

On Friday, the Overwatch League announced that the organization would be taking disciplinary action against four league players for a range of different offenses, including the use of discriminatory language on Twitch, posting offensive content on social media, and account sharing. Those facing action are Félix “xQc” Lengyel (Dallas Fuel), Timo “Taimou” Kettunen (Dallas Fuel), Ted “Silkthread” Wang (Los Angeles Valiant), and Tae-yeong “TaiRong” Kim (Houston Outlaws.) Lengyel, Kettunen, and Kim were all reprimanded for discriminatory related offenses....

As predicted, Lucioball is the major mode for the Summer Games event, but Blizzard isn’t content delivering the same thing all over again, so 2017’s Lucioball has some changes. Lucioball 2017’s biggest addition is a new stadium set in Sydney, Australia, played in rotation with 2016’s Estádio das Rãs in Rio. Gameplay in Lucioball is changing too. Lucio will no longer be able to “boop” opposing players, and the Lucioball ultimate now empowers Lucio’s speed and jumping rather than pulling the ball towards him....

The main themes of Overwatch’s Summer Games skins are sports and summer fun. In previous years, Tracer had gotten two track themed skins, Soldier 76 had a backyard barbecue themed skin, and D.Va got a wave racing skin as just a few examples. The new skins already shown for this year’s event are no different in fun summer theming. Overwatch’s Mystery Heroes is a weird and wonderful game mode which randomly assigns a playable character to the player. It’s meant to be fun and should see players try their best with characters they may not be familiar with, but it can be frustrating too. For example, when players get a character they don’t like, they ’re-roll’ by purposefully killing their character until they get one that they know how to play better....

In a new blog post, Blizzard did a deep dive into the balance tweaks that will be made to the sequel at launch, based on the data it received from Overwatch 2’s public beta. Several characters will see varying degrees of buffs and nerfs, including new characters like Junker Queen and Sojourn. A long-awaited follow-up to Blizzard’s 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the free-to-play Overwatch 2 has received a mixed reception from gamers since releasing for PC and consoles earlier this year. Although the decisions to carry over the entire roster from the first game and move the franchise to a free-to-play model were welcomed by many gamers, numerous balance issues and complaints about monetization have left many players frustrated. In order to address player complaints about balance issues, Blizzard recently announced upcoming changes to Overwatch 2’s matchmaking system....

Though the Play of the Game mechanic featured in Overwatch 2 is iconic, it is simply not a good enough representation of the entire session. In long competitive matches with multiple big moments and huge plays, a lot of players will have contributed, but only one player gets appreciated. This is problematic, and it only touches on part of the issue with Play of the Game. As such, though Blizzard should not delete the system completely, it should strive to improve upon it by introducing a better version....

One of these abilities that some consider frustrating to fight against is Cassidy’s Magnetic Grenade. This Tactical replaced the character’s Flash Bang from the original Overwatch. Despite being able to stun opponents with Flash Bang, Cassidy’s new ability might be even more annoying. It does a total of 131 damage and can be easy to connect with targets. While many fans debate the effectiveness of Magnetic Grenade in Overwatch 2, one gamer has come up with at least one potential counter....
