Even with Orisa’s new Javelin ability, she is not one of the first characters players may think of when it comes to getting an environmental kill. That is what makes this Play of the Game so impressive, even if it came at the expense of the Orisa player....

Blizzard has a relatively straightforward monetization system implemented in Overwatch 2. Other than the Battle Pass in Overwatch 2, everything in the game has a cost associated with it in premium Overwatch Coin currency. While some content is locked behind special events, most can be purchased outside the Overwatch 2’s store. Tier lists memes are a major change from the content usually posted by the Overwatch community. Fan art is much more common, as is cosplay and memorable highlights from matches. Still, it is easy to see why the tier lists are becoming a trend, as players are having a lot of fun coming up with jokes to base each list on. As always, heroes are categorized into one of five slots, and nobody on the Overwatch roster is safe from the fan base’s new pastime....

The new skin is called Bushi Genji—“Bushi” being Japanese for “warrior”—and outfits Genji in a bulkier suit of cybernetic armor. The new look transforms Genji from ninja to samurai and is filled with subtle nods to the character’s history. The crest of his helmet, for instance, features the signature Shimada brothers symbol with two dragons engulfing one another. His chest plate also features a shuriken emblem as a tribute to his basic attack....

The Overwatch Kanezaka Challenge centers around the new Kanezaka deathmatch map, with cosmetic content based on Damage hero Hanzo. Players don’t have to play on the Kanezaka map to unlock the rewards, however. Simply racking up wins in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or Arcade will be enough for Overwatch enthusiasts to unlock all of the new cosmetic items that are being released as part of the Kanezaka Challenge. The match in question was between the Los Angeles Gladiators and the Toronto Defiant. It’s part of the North American Overwatch League’s second round of playoff, which serves as a sort of play-in for the upcoming week’s third-round quarterfinals. The player in question, birdring, did not participate in the first round of the match, which the Gladiators lost. birdring was then subbed in and played the rest of the series, which the Gladiators won 3-2....

Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch League-affiliated skins will be coming to the hero shooter in the near future, and two of them have already seen a reveal. The Shanghai Dragons have an exclusive Mei skin to represent their team, and the Dallas Fuel are in possession of a stylish new Genji color scheme. Currently, there is a great deal of speculation online as to how these exclusive skins might be acquired, with suggestions including donating to a given team or tuning in to championship streams seeming to be the most likely solutions....

The three skins were first shown off in a video put together by Overwatch’s Korean team. The video reveals one of Brigitte’s first new skins since the character was introduced in 2018. Orisa is another character who has been somewhat neglected when it comes to new skins. However, the tank-class hero will be getting her due when the Lunar New Year event kicks off. And finally, Tracer is getting an epic-tier skin as part of the Lunar New Year 2019 event in Overwatch....

Blizzard has confirmed that the Overwatch cosmetic update will include new legendary skins for Lucio and Hanzo. Lucio’s skin is Capoeira Lucio, which is a nod to the musical healer’s Afro-Brazilian heritage. Created by African slaves in Brazil in the 16th century, capoeira is a martial arts style that incorporates elements of dance, music, and acrobatics. Lucio is known for his acrobatic maneuvers (he has the ability to ride walls) and so this skin suits the character relatively well....

Mike Lauer and his girlfriend, Jessie, had always dreamed of getting a dog, and after growing up with goldens they had their heart set on the breed. Lauer, from Philadelphia, told Newsweek the pair picked up their new pet, Willow, at the beginning of the year, but soon after they realized something was wrong. “Two months into having her, we noticed that Willow had diarrhea and was vomiting. Kiriko is a member of the Yamagami family who are tasked with protecting the shrine in Kanezaka. She was raised by her mother and grandmother, both having shaped who she would become. Her mother was a ninja who trained her alongside the Shimada family’s Hanzo and Genji. Her grandmother was very spiritual and taught her how to heal and summon her spirit fox. All of these character aspects can be seen as a part of her in-game abilities, yet they seem relatively bland compared to what could have been given her relation to Hanzo and Genji—two of the game’s most compelling characters from a lore standpoint....

While fans have made charts to rank the Overwatch 2 characters’ powers, the incomplete nature of the lore means that the debate is still largely up to interpretation. Having said that, the characters toward the very top of the list have performed feats that make their ranking almost inarguable.
