Weapon charms and weapon inspecting are new features to the Overwatch franchise but not to Activision-Blizzard properties, as Call of Duty and other titles have had weapon charms for some time. The Overwatch universe has many elements that are primed to be weapon skins. Between Pachimaris, mini jars of peanut butter, a variety of hero pets, and more, there is a wealth of options to offer players. Previews of the weapon inspection feature show variety in what charms heroes can have, and they will have unique animations and voice lines reacting to inspecting their weapon....

The theme park map lets players visit the Hearthstone Tavern, Pylon Terrace, and many other locations pulled from other Blizzard games as Overwatch players battle it out to first Assault the objective and then Escort a payload to the end of the map. The newest addition to the list of maps will also contain some more generic theme park features such as a Ferris Wheel and some significantly-huge Roller Coasters....

The clip in question features a Mei player showcasing one of the experimental changes made to her kit for the limited-time event. Mei uses her Ice Wall ability to climb to an upraised area of the map. She then charges to where the action is below her, leaps into the air, and uses her Cryo-Freeze ability mid-air. Normally, doing this would result in nothing other than Mei’s frozen body falling to the ground, leaving her invulnerable until she unfroze....

The number of characters, weapons, and tactics have made Overwatch one of the most popular team-shooters ever. The new intro for McCree, in this Halloween event, shows him in an undertaker roll, putting someone in a coffin....

This is hardly the first time that fans have made a memorable Sombra skin concept. Earlier this month, an Overwatch fan turned Sombra into an Aztec god, with the design being as stylish as one would expect. With a mohawk, face paint, and unique armor, the fan concept put a lot of effort into changing Sombra’s appearance. The latest concept makes a number of changes to the character’s look as well, though the theme of the fan-made skin is completely different from that of an Aztec god....

One fan of the series was surprised when they found a piece of fanart of Overwatch’s Tracer on the wall of a burger shop. However, the crossover subject of that art was even weirder, puzzling fans. The latest hero pool ban is underway in Overwatch, removing McCree, Widowmaker, Mercy, and Wrecking Ball from the roster temporarily. Widowmaker and McCree are no strangers to the ban, having been removed many times since hero bans were implemented. What makes their omission more impactful this time is that both McCree and Widowmaker are two of Echo’s biggest counters, while Mercy is always an ideal support for flying allies....

Once an Overwatch match heads into the Overtime period, the first side to gain an upper hand is almost always the victor. While players can try to stagger and keep the match alive until their teammates return, the delay on the respawn timer and quickness with which the Overtime meter fades makes comebacks a tough task. This is especially true if only one player is alive, which is the exact situation that Reddit user Blackbyrne501 ran into....

Thankfully, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has now revealed that Blizzard has big plans to fix things. In a post on the game’s official forum, one player bemoaned the game’s reporting features asking if the developer will introduce a punishment that actually resonates, as currently, “[reported players] don’t give a crap if they’re silenced, they just keep throwing [games].” To which Kaplan explained that the game no longer “silences” players who are reported for throwing games, and that “there is a post coming about updates to the punishment system coming soon....

Reddit user SharkyMarkySD made a post to the Overwatch fan-base today, explaining their actions and detailing a new interaction with Jeff Kaplan himself that went a lot better than their last encounter. According to the long-time fan, they contacted Blizzard customer support and asked them to pass along an apology to the director which led to a far more pleasant interaction than their previous confrontation. About an hour later, Jeff replied to the user directly, apologizing for calling them out in such a public manner and thanking them for their feedback on the game’s sniper hero, Widowmaker....

Holly Hunt confirmed to Fox 8 Cleveland that three giraffes, three bongos, three red river hogs and a springbok died after fire broke out in the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, roughly 70 miles west of Cleveland. Crews from three fire departments responded to the fire, which broke out around 6 p.m. local time on Thursday, but were not able to rescue the animals enclosed in one of the site’s barns....

Scientists at the University of Southern Denmark recently published a study, Oxygen and nitrogen production by an ammonia-oxidizing archaeon, suggesting that one particular microbe is defying previously believed science regarding the correlation between sunlight and oxygen production. The study, published January 6 in Science, documents the microbe Nitrosopumilus maritimus and its cousins, known as ammonia-oxidizing archaea. The scientists stated that contrary to popular belief and discoveries made regarding other microbes in particular habitats, these specific microbes are able to produce oxygen without sunlight, potentially in some of the darkest depths of our environment....
