For many, the biggest aspects of this update are the numerous changes Blizzard is instituting for season two of Overwatch ranked play. New to the mode are skill tiers which will now be prominently displayed as it will ultimately replace specific player rating. Sudden death is also going away completely in season two, and should the match end in a tie, it will count as a draw. The point system and penalty for leaving a match have also been adjusted as well....

In a blog post on the official Overwatch website, fans are introduced to 11-year-old Efi Oladele. In the mock news article from Atlas News, a “Spotlight on Numbani” article has an interview with the young girl, who is said to be highly gifted in robotics and artificial intelligence. There isn’t much to go on in the article beyond a quick profile of the fictional character, and fans will no doubt begin to debate whether Efi Oladele herself could be the next hero or whether she is related to whoever it may be....

Overwatch 2 fans from across social media have stated that they are not happy about the Halloween event skin prices, with some creating side-by-side comparisons of skins from Fortnite that cost less than the Activision Blizzard cosmetics. Halloween Terror 2022 and its Halloween activities run until November 8, and the expected gameplay rotation hasn’t caught the ire of fans anticipating the Halloween event as the paid skins have. With the original Overwatch’s Halloween event, these players could unlock some Halloween-themed skins in loot boxes which they could acquire in a number of ways, and the free-to-play system of Overwatch 2 has some players missing the controversial feature....

In a forum post, Overwatch principal designer Scott Mercer revealed that “Starting with the releases of Blizzard World and Brigitte, we made the decision to debut new maps and heroes in Competitive Play at the beginning of the season that follows their release.” Mercer explained that this means that Brigitte won’t be available in Overwatch Competitive Play until season 10 which is over a month away; the Blizzard World map has been available since the start of season nine....
