Though making each of these characters into heroes is highly unlikely, there is a way Blizzard can do more with them outside lore-focused content. This would not be the first rework for the shield tank, as an experimental update late last year saw the German knight getting a huge boost to his damage output. With some considering that Reinhardt change overpowered, it will be interesting to see what players think of the Reinhardt rework that Blizzard is currently toying with for Overwatch 2. While Jeff Kaplan warns fans that it could be canceled during development, it is certainly intriguing....

In what is being described as a hotfix balance patch, Overwatch 2 developers are getting ahead of any potentially crippling metas that may be creeping in. In the days after Season 2 started, a meta was beginning to form where Sojourn, when played with Mercy, was bringing back the one-shot capability that led to her being engrained in the meta for months before. Only days before this hotfix, members of the Overwatch 2 development team was hinting at possible changes and the heroes that would be affected....

Blizzard has already confirmed both significant and minor reworks to existing heroes to better fit the Overwatch 2 meta, such as Winston having an alternate fire to bolster his offensive abilities. The lack of a second tank will not just affect that role, however, it affects every single role in the game. DPS and flanking heroes like Tracer and Doomfist would see a significant increase in damage output with one less barrier on the field....

Overwatch 2 doesn’t need to be limited to just a video game format, especially since its predecessor wasn’t. Of course, the sequel has already debuted its Junker Queen and Kiriko animated shorts, so it’s fairly safe to assume that more is in development. Before her departure, Wong was being considered to replace Chu as the lead writer for Overwatch. As seen in the tweet below from Blizzard, the company thanks the team-based shooter’s upwards of 30 million players for joining in on the action and continuing to help support the 2016 release. The company also put together a nifty little video clip that depicts Overwatch’s hero Reinhardt charging into the fray on the cusp of using his gigantic melee weapon known as the Rocket Hammer. Considering the committed effort Blizzard has put forth when it comes to providing Overwatch with post-launch support, it should really come as no surprise that the first-person shooter’s popularity continues to expand....

According to an announcement from Blizzard today, the company has signed a multi-year deal with Disney and ESPN to broadcast the Overwatch League on the network’s various channels, with regular season play and major tournaments appearing on such stations as ABC, Disney XD and ESPN 1, 2, and 3. As it so happens, OWL’s first official broadcast will be tonight, June 11, 2018 on Disney XD and ESPN 3 with the eSports league being in Day One of the quarter-finals....
