Generally speaking, these Overwatch 2 technical problems are impacting players across all platforms. For the first couple of days after the Overwatch 2 launch, the biggest problem was the servers, resulting in long queue times and making it virtually impossible for most fans to get into the game at all. Blizzard has taken Overwatch 2 down for maintenance multiple times since the game’s rocky launch, and things seem to have stabilized quite a bit as a result....

In an announcement made mid-day Thursday, Blizzard confirmed that a special Overwatch 2 developer livestream is planned for tomorrow. The broadcast will air at 12 PM PST/3:00 PM ET on the official PlayOverwatch Twitch channel. Participants will include Overwatch esports host and commentator Soe Gschwind-Repp and Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, as well as other members of the Blizzard development team. Fans have been waiting a long time to get a good look at Sojourn in action in the much-anticipated sequel, and their patience was finally rewarded with a recent gameplay trailer. The trailer showcases Sojourn’s weapons and abilities as she battles it out with a few Overwatch favorites. One of the returning roster seen in the trailer is Ashe, though she’s looking slightly different from what fans may remember....

In a new interview with Polygon, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan revealed that, in addition to the slate of Anniversary content, Blizzard will also be refreshing the game’s standard loot boxes with some new content. The Archive Event 2021 has promised new cosmetics and a return to the lore missions that have made the mode popular. These missions have provided an enjoyable experience for long-time fans and has likely introduced a few hints about what players can expect from the upcoming Overwatch 2. The sequel to the competitive shooter is rumored to have a much larger focus on in-game lore, building alongside the competitive gameplay that made the original Overwatch famous....

In a new Blizzard Forums post regarding the clarification of whether using a mouse and keyboard on consoles constitutes as cheating, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has firmly stated that despite players being allowed to use these devices, the team “objects to the use of mouse and keyboard on console”. While using a mouse and keyboard on consoles isn’t technically cheating, Kaplan is aware that usage of these devices can offer up unfair advantages and revealed that Blizzard have “contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed [the Overwatch team’s] concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices....

One Overwatch fan has an idea for how to get a small amount of payback against players who talk trash and bail on their teammates. They created a mockup of a new user interface for when a player quits, but their team still wins without them. As for what makes the promotional unique, the free-to-play period is longer than normal, spanning two full weeks. Specifically, the trial ends on January 4, the same time Overwatch’s 2020 Winter Wonderland event ends. Blizzard only usually runs free Overwatch trials for the duration of a weekend. The only exceptions to this are Overwatch anniversary events — where the game becomes free to play for a week — and the one time Blizzard made it free to play for a whole month in China, back in 2017....

This, in turn, has prompted Blizzard to announce that the title’s next update will nerf McCree, while also addressing certain shortcomings of other heroes like D.Va. But according to a recent forum post from Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan, McCree and D.Va aren’t the only characters that are currently being looked into. In a new thread over at the Blizzard Forums, one particular hero that some players have deemed as being overpowered is Widowmaker, and questions were asked as to whether Blizzard is looking into the character....

With the new Overwatch update, Blizzard has nerfed Hanzo by reducing the damage of his Storm Arrows from 70 to 60. Reaper, meanwhile, has had his healing reduced from 40% to 30% of damage dealt. Most of the Overwatch support heroes have been left alone, but Baptiste has a couple of changes in the patch as well. The recovery time for Biotic Launcher’s primary fire has been increased from 0....

For those unfamiliar with Earthshatter, the Reinhardt ability sees the hero slamming his hammer onto the ground and creating a massive wave that stuns everything in front of him. While this ability requires great timing to use properly, as it can easily be blocked by a shield-using Tank on the enemy team, a well-placed Earthshatter opens up the Reinhardt to free hammer swings and pin opportunities. Their team can also clean up some kills, though in the case of ARO2ng, they were able to do most of the work themselves....

The message shared by Blizzard via the official Overwatch Twitter account reads, “Happy holidays from all of us on the Overwatch team,” with both a Christmas tree and heart emoji. Accompanying the message is a new piece of official art for Overwatch to celebrate Christmas and the holidays. It features D.Va in her new Sleighing D.Va Legendary holiday skin giving out gifts to several other Overwatch heroes with an appropriately Christmas-y background to the image....

As seen in the tweet below from the official Overwatch Twitter account, fans can get a gander at what one of Reaper’s shotguns will look like when the Nerf weapon becomes available for purchase at some point next year. Unfortunately, though, the tweet doesn’t offer up any footage of someone actually firing the replica gun to shoot Nerf ammo, so there’s no telling exactly how it will handle upon its release date....

Blizzard is currently testing for both characters that should help make them feel more balanced. Reapers changes will be the most significant of the two, as one of the character’s primary abilities, the Reaping, is being heavily adjusted. Currently, the Reaping restores 40% of damage done to Reaper’s health, making him pretty difficult to kill in most situations. However, the PTR is currently testing a drop to 30% health restored, which should help quite a bit....
