Competitive mode in Overwatch works very similarly to its contemporaries with players losing and gaining skill rating depending on whether they win or lose and reaching higher tiers with a higher skill rating. After raising through diamond rank, players get ranked as the top 500 Overwatch players in their region, which is no small feat. In a post on Reddit, a user known as Mountain-Manager-714 shared a video from a recent game of Overwatch. Taking place on the Control Center section of the Lijiang Tower map, the highlight began with the Reddit user rushing back to contest the point as D.Va. Sitting at 99%, they only needed to take control of the objective for another second to send the game to a final round. However, the enemy team looked to prevent that from happening, as they had set up a formidable defense on the point....

According to Kaplan, “It’s still a little early to tell if the mode is stable and balanced enough to host a competitive version.” Nevertheless, the Overwatch game director stated that the team is “keeping a really close eye on it” and playing it for itself in order to determine whether or not a ranked iteration for 3v3 Lockout will be viable in the long run, which further intimates that competitive 3v3 could be in the works....

An Overwatch player has released footage of a suggested rework that could give the character the ability to better handle threats by himself. Luckily, these changes aren’t an April fool’s joke and seem to be promoting an honest change to Reinhardt. Reinhardt is a staple pick that gives protection when making pushes into objectives, and the suggested reworks make him even better at handling things himself in fights. Though the player downplays the rework, it’s actually pretty solid....

While an alien version of D.Va would be strange to introduce during most Overwatch events, it could make for a fun random addition in something like the Anniversary event. It would also be a good fit for next year’s Halloween Terror, as the spooky season has already seen D.Va transforming from a cheerful gamer into a nine-tailed fox. With the Shin-Ryeong skin being one of the most popular looks for the character, perhaps another big appearance change would be a hit as well....

While players have enjoyed seeing a younger version of McCree, perhaps the most interesting skins of this kind are tied to Hanzo and Genji. Players can get a glimpse at how the Shimada brothers looked when they had their brutal fight, a clash that saw Hanzo believing that he had killed Genji in cold blood. The suggestion focuses on the Overwatch hero Echo, and more specifically, her Ultimate ability. Called Duplicate, the skill allows the Damage hero to become one of the characters on the enemy team. During this brief duration, Echo will be able to use her selected enemy’s abilities and their Ultimate, with the charge-up speed for the copied Ultimate being incredibly fast. Echo will also mimic the appearance of her chosen target, only with a completely blue visual design....

While the former issue involving the timed-exclusive Olympic cosmetics are going to remain the same with no alternative for it at the moment, some fans recently discovered a glitch in Overwatch that rectifies the latter complaint about Lucioball. As it happens, the exploit allows other heroes in the game to take the place of Lucio in the mode. As seen in the Overwatch videos below, the Lucioball glitch occasionally occurs for no rhyme or reason and transforms Lucio into other characters like Bastion, D....

As pointed out by Reddit user VanarchistCookbook, the Overwatch Ilios map lighthouse has a flaw in that the top part of it is off-center. This was demonstrated in a video clip where Overwatch Damage hero Echo flies to the top of the lighthouse and walks around, confirming that it is indeed off-center. It’s unclear why Blizzard designed it like this and it’s unlikely to get changed, but this discovery has elicited some interesting reactions from the community....

The Overwatch League is Blizzard’s professional esports league tied to Overwatch. It’s been confirmed that the next season of the Overwatch League, scheduled to kick off in April of 2022, will be using an early build of Overwatch 2 as opposed to the original Overwatch game. This is reportedly so that the Overwatch League doesn’t have to change from one game to the next in the middle of the season, which would understandably be disruptive to players and teams....

On the official Overwatch League discipline tracker, it has been confirmed that Los Angeles Valiant player Jung-won ‘Lastro’ Mun and San Francisco Shock player Dong-jun ‘Rascal’ Kim have been fined $1,000 for the inappropriate messages they posted during the weekend’s games. Professional Overwatch player Poko was recently asked what kind of D.Va changes he would want to see tested out in the Overwatch Experimental Card. All of the changes recommended by Poko would make D.Va a much more powerful character, making her an even more obvious pick for those who playing the Tank class. Poko’s recommendations include making it so D.Va’s Defense Matrix would be able to consume all projectiles in the game, including Sigma’s Ultimate....

Speaking to Overwatch Central, game director Jeff Kaplan was asked about what kinds of things fans could expect from the yet to be revealed 27th hero. Though development continues to progress, Kaplan expects this new hero to change the meta of Overwatch, that is, force players to rethink and develop new strategies during gameplay. Unfortunately, Kaplan couldn’t (or wouldn’t) share any more details, but his admission does go hand in hand with the recent rumors that the new character would be someone that is sorely needed and potentially more skill based....

The trick was posted on Reddit by user ZeMedicIsHere, and it involves Sombra and her teleporting abilities. The player sets up Sombra’s teleporter near their own flag and then bum-rushes the enemy’s flag while using Sombra’s invisibility skill. As soon as the player grabs the flag, they teleport back to their flag and end up taking the enemy’s flag with them, thus earning their team a point with little effort....

Overwatch players that prefer playing as the new character Ana will be happy to know that the update gives her a small buff by improving the power of her biotic rifle. This will allow Ana to be more effective in her role as a support character by increasing her capacity to heal her teammates, while also allowing her to deal damage to enemies at a faster rate. McCree, on the other hand, has been nerfed in the update....

The school called a meeting with alleged gunman Ethan Crumbley, 15, and his parents hours before the shooting took place after a teacher found a drawing on his desk that showed a bullet and the words “blood everywhere.” The school asked his parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley, to take him home during the meeting, but they “flatly refused,” according to Tim Throne, superintendent of the Oxford school district.
